Hospitality IT support in a nutshell
NETCONFIG provides managed IT support for hotels, guesthouses, lodges, B&Bs and restaurants in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and the Western Cape. We look after your guest and staff Wi-Fi, the network your card machines and booking system rely on, Microsoft 365 email, cyber security, backups and POPIA-aware handling of guest data. .
Sound familiar?
In hospitality, a small tech hiccup never stays small. It becomes a queue at reception, a refund at the table, or a 1-star review written from the lobby.
"The Wi-Fi's down again."
Room 12 can't stream, the conference group can't present, and someone is already typing a review.
"The card machine won't connect."
Of course it's at peak checkout or during Friday dinner service.
"Did that booking come through?"
An enquiry lands in spam, or nowhere at all, and the guest books elsewhere.
"Reception's PC is 'updating, 37%'."
A queue at check-in and a computer with other plans.
"The power tripped and took everything with it."
Load shedding has been off since May 2025, but storms, municipal faults and local load reduction (still affecting parts of Gauteng and KZN) still happen.
"Are we doing enough to protect guest data?"
ID numbers, contact details, booking records: POPIA expects you to keep them safe.
What we look after for hotels, guesthouses, lodges and restaurants
Guest and staff Wi-Fi
Strong coverage from the pool deck to the back rooms, with guests on their own network, separate from your business systems. We plan, install and manage it.
Card machines and point-of-sale (POS)
We don't replace your POS provider. We make sure the internet, network and devices your tills and card machines rely on are stable, kept apart from guest Wi-Fi, and set up in line with the card industry's security rules (PCI DSS). When something breaks, we chase the vendor with you.
Booking systems and email that don't go missing
We look after the PCs and network your booking system (PMS) runs on, and keep your Microsoft 365 email reliable and protected from spam and spoofing, so reservations land where they should.
CCTV, access control and cabling
Through SiyaXhuma, our infrastructure division, we install structured cabling, wireless networks, CCTV and access control, so your cameras, door systems and Wi-Fi all play nicely together.
Cyber security and POPIA-aware guest data
Firewalls, protected devices, secure Wi-Fi and sensible access rules, so staff only see what they need. We help you meet POPIA's security requirements on the technical side.
Backups and power resilience
Backups that follow the 3-2-1 rule (three copies, two locations, one off-site), monitored by us. We can also advise on a UPS for your network core and a backup internet line, so a power trip or fibre cut doesn't stop check-ins.
Phones and video for reception and conferences
Front-desk phones, internal extensions and video calling for conference and events rooms.
Microsoft 365 and Copilot, explained simply
Shared calendars for housekeeping, Teams for shift handovers, and Copilot to draft guest replies faster, with training so your team actually uses it.
How we get you sorted, without disrupting service
A friendly chat
No jargon. Tell us about your property, your systems and what keeps breaking.
A proper look
We check your Wi-Fi coverage, network, devices, backups and security, on-site or remotely, depending on what your property needs.
Plan and onboard
We fix the urgent things first and schedule changes for quiet times, not Saturday dinner service.
We look after it
Proactive monitoring, a helpdesk your team can call, and regular check-ins with your dedicated IT Manager.
Hospitality IT support FAQs
What does hospitality IT support from NETCONFIG include?
We look after guest and staff Wi-Fi, the network and internet your card machines and booking system depend on, reception and office PCs, Microsoft 365 email, cyber security, backups and CCTV or access-control networks. You get a helpdesk your team can call and a dedicated IT Manager who knows your property.
Can you support our booking system (PMS) and point-of-sale (POS)?
We support the network, internet, PCs and devices your PMS and POS run on, and we work directly with your software vendor when something goes wrong, so you're not stuck in the middle. Tell us which systems you use and we'll confirm exactly what we can cover.
Should guest Wi-Fi be separate from our business network?
Yes. Guests should be on their own network, kept apart from your tills, booking system and office PCs. Think of it as giving guests their own front door instead of a key to the back office. It's safer, and it stops one guest's streaming from slowing down your card payments.
Does POPIA apply to guesthouses and B&Bs?
Yes. POPIA applies to any business that processes personal information, whether that's a B&B, a lodge, a hotel or a restaurant. Guest names, ID numbers, contact details and booking records all count. You need reasonable security measures, and since 1 April 2025 security compromises (data breaches) must be reported to the Information Regulator through its eServices portal. We help with the technical side: access control, secure Wi-Fi, encryption and backups. This is general information, not legal advice.
Load shedding has stopped. Do we still need backup power for our IT?
On 2 October 2026 Eskom reported that South Africa had gone 504 consecutive days without load shedding since 16 May 2025, which is great news. But power still trips: storms, municipal faults, cable theft and local load reduction, which Eskom says still affects about 2.8% of its customers, mostly in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. A UPS (a battery backup) on your router, Wi-Fi and network equipment keeps guests online and payments flowing through short outages, and a backup internet line covers a fibre cut. We'll size it sensibly, without overselling batteries you don't need.
Do you support hospitality businesses in Cape Town and the Garden Route?
Yes. Our head office is in Westville, Durban, and dedicated technicians support hospitality businesses across South Africa, including Cape Town and the Garden Route. Tell us where your property is and we'll explain how support works for your area.
Do you offer after-hours support?
Yes, according to your SLA.
Ready for IT that checks in on time?
Tell us about your hotel, guesthouse, lodge or restaurant. We'll listen, ask a few sensible questions and suggest practical next steps. No hard sell, promise.
